MOMENT OF TRUTH

‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’
The Turning Point
The news that Charlie Kirk had been killed – murdered by the bullet from an assassin’s gun – while speaking at an event in Utah on September 10th was as shocking and shattering to me as it was to millions of others around the world.
Who was this young man who lived such an extraordinary life—whose death echoed across the earth like a mighty roar, shaking the very foundations of our culture and resonating deeply with multitudes across the globe? What gave his life such lasting significance, and how will his legacy continue to shape the world? And perhaps most importantly: what should our response be?
Charlie Kirk was a true American patriot – someone who not only fiercely loved and defended his country for its virtues, but also recognised its flaws and strove to better it where it fell short. A fearless warrior for free speech and a bold leader, Charlie led, in just 31 years, one of the most extraordinary lives of the century, becoming the voice of an entire generation. He eloquently articulated the beliefs and convictions that many others held, but few knew how to rightly express; he fearlessly proclaimed truth from the rooftops, and defended liberty, common sense and core Christian values, often risking his reputation, and indeed his life, in fulfilling his calling. At his passing I came to realise, as did many others around the world, that more than looking up to him as a hero and role model, I also regarded him as a mentor and even, somehow, a friend.
At the age of 18 Charlie dropped out of college to found what has now become the largest and most influential conservative youth organisation in America, and probably the world: Turning Point USA. As Charlie built connections and began speaking at events and on talk shows, his influence spread and his reputation grew—soon making him one of the most prominent voices in the conservative movement in the United States.
Turning Point USA, which has given birth to Turning Point Action and Turning Point Faith, is a nonprofit, grassroots organization, “dedicated to rallying, organizing, and empowering students to advocate for principles of freedom, free markets, and limited government”.1 It has now mobilised and impacted millions of young people.
There really wasn’t a platform that Charlie Kirk wouldn’t appear on or a debate he wouldn’t engage in.
He worked tirelessly for over a decade: writing several bestselling books, hosting the highly successful daily radio show “The Charlie Kirk Show”, building an enormous social media presence, organising and speaking at countless conferences and events around the world, and – perhaps most famously – visiting thousands of college campuses across the US, where he engaged in civil discourse and debate with students on some of the most important societal topics and some of the biggest questions of life. Charlie always sought to maintain a respectful and civil atmosphere in all of his events, even when his debating partners had less noble ambitions.
Though frequently slandered by the liberal mainstream media, Charlie remained unswerving in his mission – educating and mobilising young people to think for themselves and to pursue truth, liberty and beauty – all the while loving those that openly hated and threatened him, only growing more determined and committed in the face of intense opposition.
A genius of political strategy and highly sought after for his remarkable insight and wisdom, Charlie was richly gifted by God with that rare combination of intelligence, unwavering values, eloquence and true humility. Charlie’s clear and prolific voice rose above the cacophony of the raging cultural chaos and compelled many of those that heard it to heed his message.
But everything that Charlie Kirk did, as amazing as it was, is not nearly as important as the man that he was. His legacy reaches far beyond his achievements. First and last, Charlie was a passionate believer and follower of Jesus Christ; this formed the foundation of all his convictions and actions. He spoke often of his faith in God and consistently sought to return all glory to its rightful place. In fact, in an interview a few months before his assassination, Charlie was asked what he wanted to be remembered for. His answer: ‘Courage; for my faith, that would be the most important thing.’
Charlie was also a devoted husband and father, whose deep love for his wife, Erika, and their two young children radiated from him whenever they were together. Charlie’s love for the Lord, and for life itself, was evident in what he did and said, and he was constantly encouraging young people to settle down, get married and start a family. He was also a powerful voice of the pro-life movement, fearlessly and compellingly advocating for the rights of the baby in the womb.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
‘I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.’

After news of the attempt on his life at a campus event in Utah on September 10th spread, thousands of cultural figures, ranging from renowned actors and celebrities to smalltown pastors, went online, expressing their deep concern and asking their followers to uphold Charlie and his family in thought and prayer.
President Donald Trump himself was the one to confirm a little later that the world had lost Charlie Kirk, posting, ‘The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.’ He furthermore declared that all flags be flown at half mast throughout the nation until Sunday as a sign of respect and honour and announced a short time later that Charlie would posthumously be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom – the highest civilian honour in the United States, something which took place a few weeks later, on what would have been Charlie’s 32nd birthday.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated as a political activist, yes, but he was martyred as a Christian for preaching the true Gospel and living out his faith. Many are likening him to Stephen from the Book of Acts, and the parallels are indeed striking: both were young preachers of righteousness and both were killed by those who could not withstand the eloquence and wisdom from the Holy Spirit with which they spoke.
Just as Jesus said in John 12:24: ‘Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.’ The seed of Charlie’s life and vision has gone into the ground, and it is already beginning to bear abundant fruit.
Indeed Charlie’s death seems to have become the very thing he poured his life into achieving: a turning point in the culture. As already mentioned, in the days and weeks following his death, millions upon millions around the globe rose up to pay tribute to Charlie’s life and legacy.
At his incredible memorial event, which was nothing short of revival, anointed worship leaders and the most senior politicians came together with Charlie’s closest friends and family to honour his memory and give glory to God. His wife Erika also spoke at the event, publicly forgiving the man responsible for her husband’s murder.
The service was attended by over 100.000 individuals, and was live streamed to millions around the world. Since his memorial, testimonies have poured in from former atheists, Muslims and many others of how Charlie led them to faith and reportedly, church attendance is up by 15%2 with Bible sales surging.
Hundreds of thousands, and in some cases millions, of people from the UK to North Korea flooded city streets in the last two months, waving banners, singing and chanting ‘We are Charlie Kirk’.
But this is not just about honouring Charlie’s memory; his loss has become a galvanising force.
An army is waking from their spiritual and cultural slumber and apathy, stirred to action with new determination and zeal for the cause of Christ. Talk about backfiring: the enemy and his minions thought they could deal a deathly blow to the side of the light, but just as they did with Jesus 2000 years ago, they have made a fatal miscalculation. As Erika, Charlie’s widow, so impactfully put it in her stirring speech a few days after her husband’s death: they have no idea what they have unleashed, or the fire they have ignited. Charlie’s movement and message are already growing stronger than ever. Left-wing extremists tried to silence Charlie Kirk, but instead they created a million more Charlie Kirks and ignited a movement for righteousness that can’t be stopped. This truly is the Turning Point.
So now is not the time to grow weary of the battle nor shrink back in fear. Rather it is the time to boldly advance with courage, clarity and love, taking up the baton passed on by Charlie. May we, with new vigour and passion, pursue the calling God has placed on our own lives. Let us echo the words that so marked Charlie’s life: ‘Here I am, Lord, send me!’ May our lives be the harvest of Charlie Kirk’s seed. And when the moment comes, may we choose to stand—stepping into the breach and growing to fill the space he left behind—until each of us has run our own race and hears those words that surely blanketed Charlie as he was welcomed into the presence of his Creator: ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant!’
‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.’
